Zinc, Vitamin A, and CoQ10 for Immune System Health

by Rich
(Florida)

Melissa,

I just purchased your ebook No More Colds & Flu. Such great/pertinent information. How would I go about incorporating a daily maintenance dose of zinc? How would I incorporate zinc and vitamin A if I felt myself coming down with the cold or flu? How would this change if "felt like death" too? Do you have any info on CoQ10?

Thanks,

Rich

RESPONSE

Hi Rich,

Glad you found the ebook helpful. Zinc and vitamin A are certainly two other important nutrients when looking to boost immune system health.

There are many such nutrients actually. Thankfully, we can get most of them through a good diet rich in organic fruits and vegetables, pastured meats and eggs, raw dairy products, and healthy fats.

That's why the ebook is a supplement to this website. It provides an easy, safe way to boost your immune system to protect yourself from colds and flu.

For a maintenance supplement of zinc, 15-25 mg is the recommended daily dose. You can try the zinc taste test to make sure you have enough zinc in your system. If you can taste the zinc supplement, then the daily dose above will be fine. If you can't taste the mineral, then you need to use the liquid supplement as a guide to get your zinc levels back up to where they should be.

For vitamin A benefits, 2000-5000 IU is recommended for daily supplementing. This is a fat-soluble vitamin, so you need to be careful you don't take too much. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin as well, but it is much safer as long as you take the natural vitamin D (D3, not D2) and use common sense.

I try to get enough vitamin A through diet. Good food sources are eggs, butter, cream, and whole milk. Raw milk from grass-fed cattle is best if you can find it. Good beta-carotene sources (which can convert into vitamin A) include green, leafy veggies, and orange and yellow veggies.

As for CoQ10 (also called ubiquinone) - it is essential for optimum health. It helps our bodies produce energy, protects our hearts, destroys free radicals, helps burn fat for fuel, enhances the immune system, and much more. Organ meat and red meat are the best food sources, especially if they are from grass-fed cows. For a standard dosage, 100-400 mg daily is generally recommended.

Wishing you the best of health,

Melissa
